Job summary

Network Contracting in Durban is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to provide technical leadership across its manufacturing environment.

You will drive improvements in productivity, equipment reliability and quality performance, collaborating across engineering, quality and capital projects while solving complex problems and leading improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng/BSc/BTech) required.
• 8–10 years' engineering experience in automotive manufacturing.
• Proven track record in process optimisation and capital projects.
• Experience leading QA activities and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and quality initiatives across manufacturing, including process optimisation, OEE improvement, root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
• Manage engineering and capital projects from concept to implementation, including budgets, procurement, installation, commissioning and risk management.
• Ensure compliance with automotive quality requirements; support audits and customer quality concerns (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC).

Our client, an established international engineering and manufacturing organisation, is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to provide technical leadership across its manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead engineering and quality initiatives across manufacturing, including process optimisation, OEE improvement, root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
• Manage engineering and capital projects from concept to implementation, covering budgets, equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, risk management and delivery.
• Drive compliance with automotive quality requirements while supporting audits, customer quality concerns, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans and cross-functional continuous-improvement programmes.

Job Experience & Skills Required / Ideal Candidate Profile:

Education

• Bachelor's Degree (BEng, BSc or BTech) in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience

• 8–10 years' engineering experience within automotive manufacturing.
• Proven experience in manufacturing process optimisation.
• Experience leading capital projects from concept through implementation.
• Experience with production equipment, automation systems and mechanical design.
• Experience managing or mentoring engineers and technicians.

Skills

• Strong understanding of IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans and SPC.
• Strong analytical and root-cause problem-solving skills.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with ERP, QMS and relevant statistical-analysis systems.
• Lead Auditor experience in IATF 16949 or VDA 6.3 will be advantageous.
• Knowledge of customer-specific automotive requirements will be advantageous.
