- A National Diploma in Food Technology or related qualification is preferred.
- Previous supervisory / management experience having worked within a food packaging manufacturing organisation is required for this role.
- A working knowledge of flexographic printing, extrusion processes and flexible packaging manufacturing would be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of statistical process control, quality assurance techniques and quality management principles in the food industry.
- In-depth knowledge of foodstuffs, cosmetics and disinfectants act; the health act, BRCGS for packaging materials, SANS : 0 – HACCP, SANS : 9- food safety management is essential to have.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills as well as good organisational skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Handle all QA activities related to the implementation, maintenance and running of BRCGS for the company's packaging food safety system as well as planning and scheduling all internal audits.
- Assisting and acting as a 2IC to the national QA Manager.
- Scheduling and planning all product safety meetings and internal audits.
- Assisting with the creation of all new documentation and reviewing all current documentation and procedures.
- Coaching and mentoring departmental heads / associates in preparation for the audit.
- Assisting with customer complaint investigations.
- Assisting the national QA Manager with raising CARs with suppliers on non-conforming raw materials and packing materials.
- Managing verification and calibration of scales and on-line testing equipment.
- Scheduling and actioning of micro and chemical testing.
- Reviewing and writing up and updating new procedures, forms and work instructions.
- Reporting on document non-conformances as well as training production manager, supervisors and despatch personnel on any changes to documents.
- Providing induction training for new associates and annual refreshers.
- Ensuring master documents are signed off and controlled.
- Carrying out internal audits as per schedules.
- Retrieving required documents for traceability exercises during audits.
- Assisting in supplier audits and new raw material approvals.
