Job summary

PBT Group is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Engineer to join a high-performing delivery team in Johannesburg. This role focuses on validating software quality across the full testing lifecycle, collaborating with Business Analysts, Developers, and Project teams in an Agile environment.

The successful candidate will perform structured testing, defect management, API validation, and database verification to ensure reliable, high-quality software solutions.

Qualifications

• 3-7 years of hands-on software testing and QA experience.
• Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC).
• Experience withManual Testing
• Functional Testing
• Integration Testing
• Regression Testing
• User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
• Experience with defect management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or HP ALM.
• Hands-on API testing experience using Postman or SoapUI.
• Good SQL skills and experience with database testing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative Agile delivery environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, review, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on business and technical requirements.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, system, and user acceptance testing.
• Identify, document, track, and verify defects using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or HP ALM.
• Work closely with Developers, Business Analysts, and Project Managers to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
• Execute API testing using Postman, SoapUI, or similar tools.
• Perform SQL queries and database validation to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Prepare testing reports, quality metrics, and status updates for stakeholders.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Support automation and performance testing initiatives where applicable.
• Ensure testing activities comply with established QA standards, processes, and best practices.
