Job summary

Altron is seeking a Senior QA for the Altron Digital Business Software Engineering team in Woodmead, Johannesburg, on a 6-month fixed-term contract. The role focuses on automated testing, building coverage, and leading quality across delivery pipelines.

You will create, run and maintain automated tests, assess needs, set a risk-based testing and automation strategy, and coach teams to sustain it. Hybrid work model with potential travel to testing environments is expected.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or related.
• ISTQB Foundation certification preferred; cloud or automation certs are advantageous.
• Extensive hands-on experience in QA and test automation.
• Experience testing web apps and APIs; desktop and cloud solutions.
• Experience integrating tests into CI/CD or Azure workflows.

Introduction: Business Unit: Altron Digital Business Department: Software Engineering Location:Woodmead, Johannesburg Appointment Type: 6- Months Fixed Term Contract Assess and strengthen quality engineering across AHT solutions through direct technical execution and leadership. The Senior QA will personally create, run and maintain automated tests; build and improve test coverage and regression suites; and implement automated checks in delivery pipelines. They will assess needs and gaps, lead a risk-based testing and automation strategy, and coach teams so others can execute and sustain it. • Educational qualifications
• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant practical experience.
• ISTQB Foundation certification or equivalent testing knowledge preferred; relevant automation or cloud certifications are advantageous
• Experience
• Substantial, demonstrable hands‑on experience in software QA / test engineering. Candidates must have personally designed, built, executed and maintained automated tests; managed test coverage and regression; and integrated automated checks into pipelines. The role also requires senior‑level capability to assess a landscape, set direction and enable others to execute it. Confirm the formal years-of-experience threshold with HR.
• Demonstrated experience testing web applications and APIs, and practical experience with desktop and cloud solutions.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD or Azure-based delivery workflows.
