Job summary

Aperture Recruitment in Johannesburg is seeking an Intermediate to Senior QA Automation Engineer for our US insurance software client. You will design, implement, and maintain automated tests using Playwright or similar to ensure enterprise-grade reliability.

You will collaborate with developers and DevOps, integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, and monitor performance with Datadog and other observability tools. 3–7+ years' experience required; bachelor's in CS or related field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Informatics, or related field.
• 3–7+ years of experience in automated testing for web applications and enterprise systems.
• Strong proficiency with modern testing tools and frameworks (Playwright preferred; Selenium/Cypress acceptable).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and agile/scrum methodologies.
• Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools like Datadog or similar.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for web applications using Playwright or equivalent tools.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and DevOps to understand features and technical implementation.
• Create and execute functional, regression, and integration tests as part of CI/CD pipelines.
• Identify, log, and track bugs through to resolution.
• Establish best practices for automated testing and quality assurance across the development lifecycle.
• Analyse system performance and errors using tools like Datadog to proactively identify issues.
• Ensure comprehensive test coverage and traceability across requirements, tests, and defects.
• Provide feedback and recommendations for product and process improvements.
• Mentor junior QA team members and contribute to test strategy and planning.
