Job description

Job Title: Senior Public Prosecutor (Community Prosecution)

Job Location: Eastern Cape, Mthatha

Deadline: June 17, 2025

Requirements:

  • An LLB degree. For serving prosecutors seeking promotion, any appropriate legal qualification.
  • At least eight (8) years of post-qualification litigation experience.
  • Demonstrate required competencies including acting independently, professionally, being accountable, and acting with credibility.

Duties:

  • Develop local crime prevention initiatives and strategies in line with the Community Prosecution Initiative (CPI). Contribute to crime prevention and community justice. Analyze local crime trends and dynamics, and organize community prosecution events locally, provincially, and nationally.
  • Build strategic partnerships for crime prevention initiatives. Develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including NPA Community Prosecution colleagues. Expand the CPI footprint in the division and nationally.
  • Promote legal education to targeted groups within this initiative. Foster collaboration and partnerships with stakeholders, applying Batho Pele principles and NPA processes.
  • Participate in interdepartmental, local government, divisional, and national structures. Monitor and evaluate statistical data and the performance of initiatives. Develop and implement interventions based on data analysis.
  • Provide feedback and submit reports on initiatives, progress, and activities to the DPP and the Office of the National Head Office Coordinator.
  • Perform prosecutorial duties such as investigations, docket management, court case management, and prosecution of cases as required.
