Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Senior Projects Manager to be placed in Venetia Mine.
The successful candidate will report to the Projects Executive.
The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position.
Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates.

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Overseeing a large complex project or multiple smaller projects / shafts through effective client relations, disciplined project execution, and team leadership to achieve safe production and financial targets.
- Understanding the original scope and communicating it to project management teams.
- Engaging with stakeholders across projects to facilitate and close out commercial, financial, technical, HR, or other project risks.
- Maintaining continuous engagement with Clients / EPCM to strengthen relations, resolve issues, and obtain new work.
- Leading, developing, and coaching employees to build competent, motivated management teams and workforce in line with M&RC's values and talent management initiatives to ensure business continuity.
- Utilising strategic and management skills to meet project deliverables, enhance work practices/systems, and optimise resources such as people, technology, finance, and systems.
- Identifying, developing, and implementing controlled change initiatives to ensure project continuity.
- Managing risk and operational discipline in accordance with legislation, policies, procedures, and standards.
- Managing projects in line with contractual and commercial requirements, including extension of time and claim formulation.
- Participating in Project Reviews and monitoring contractual entitlements / costs across projects.
- Providing input into the development and execution of project management strategies, frameworks, and principles for M&RC.
- Using SharePoint as a repository for project information and assurance.
- Participating in tendering processes and sharing lessons learned.
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
- BSc / BEng / BTech in Mining or Engineering.
- Mine Managers Certificate of Competency / Government Certificate of Competency (Engineering Mines & Works).
- Project Management Professional (Preferred).
- Business / Financial Management qualification (Advantageous).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Projects, Word & PowerPoint).
- Exposure to CCS (Construction Computer Software).
- Entrepreneurial and commercial thinking skills, with in-depth understanding of contracts & project financials.
- Strategic thinking, enablement, and leadership skills.
- Sound analytical, logical reasoning, judgement, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to apply expertise and technology, deliver results, and meet customer expectations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to persuade, influence, negotiate, and resolve conflict.
- Passionate about safety leadership and engagement.
Work experience required:
- Minimum 10 years of operational project management experience in a coal / metalliferous mining environment, managing multiple projects / shafts as a 3.1 legal appointee.
- International experience in various mining methods preferred.
- Experience managing industrial relations and union community engagement in a highly unionised environment.
- Knowledge and experience in specific areas such as Shaft Sinking, Capital Development, Contract Mining, etc., as required for the project.
- In-depth knowledge of Project Management principles, frameworks, methodologies, and system requirements.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
