Job summary

WSP Africa is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Energy team to lead complex power generation and energy infrastructure projects across South Africa, Africa, and international markets.

The role requires PMP certification, a relevant technical qualification, and a track record of delivering large multidisciplinary programs, coordinating clients, contractors and stakeholders to ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Relevant technical qualification from an internationally recognised institution.
• PMP certification or professional registration with an internationally recognised project management institution.
• 15+ years' experience in transmission and distribution, including substantial experience managing and delivering substation projects.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex power generation and energy infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE and SANS standards, as well as client-specific requirements where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering complex power generation and energy infrastructure projects.
• Support the preparation of conceptual and functional designs, specifications, bills of quantity and tender documents for power generation projects.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, resources and delivery programmes to ensure projects are completed safely, on time and within budget.
• Ensure engineering deliverables comply with IEC, IEEE, SANS and client-specific standards where applicable.
• Coordinate project activities with clients, contractors, stakeholders and internal engineering disciplines.
• Lead project meetings, prepare minutes and provide clear project progress updates.
• Prepare comprehensive project reports, cost estimates and budgets.
• Contribute to proposals by preparing and reviewing project scope, methodology, schedules and budgets for consultancy services.
• Maintain relationships with internal divisions, external contractors and clients.
• Keep up to date with technical quality management procedures, developments and specifications relevant to substation project delivery.
