JLL Project & Development Services (P&DS) provides consulting, design, management and build services to tenant and owners, leveraging technology and digital solutions to drive outstanding service delivery.

We bring a life-cycle perspective to our clients, from development solutions to our core services in programme, project and cost management and consulting in digital solutions, tenancy management, sustainability, leisure & entertainment, and workplace & design.

Role Purpose

Senior Project Manager will be interacting directly with clients fully accountable for JLL’s performance in the delivery of project in Johannesburg or Cape Town. This position will require hotel experience, as well as ability to exhibit independent judgment to proactively plan, prioritize, and organize a diverse team and workload in a fast-paced environment. Our successful candidate will bring commitment, energy and a passion for a fast paced and dynamic industry.

What this job involves :

Project Management

  • Ensuring projects are completed within scope, schedule, budget, and meeting client expectations.
  • Managing multiple projects in various phases of development.
  • Negotiating and holding all parties accountable to their contracts.
  • Managing and coordinating the activities of large project teams including owners, regional and local design consultants, contractors, suppliers, AHJs, security, AV and IT vendors, operators, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinating between base building and tenant improvement scope and negotiating with landlords.
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining specified project management processes.
  • Proactively communicating with your client; maintaining project status and tracking reports.
  • Detailed financial and schedule management and reporting.
  • Leading project meetings : ensuring minutes are quickly distributed and properly filed.
  • Proactively foreseeing and documenting project risks and risk mitigation plans.
  • Actively troubleshooting, problem solving and tracking project performance indicators.
  • Managing JLL’s financial performance per project.

Team Management

  • Fostering a project environment of accountability, excellence, inclusivity, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Energizing, supervising, mentoring, and supporting others on your team.

Relationships

  • Cultivating new and existing business relationships.
  • Collaborating with JLL peers, partners and clients.
  • Building trust with owners, landlords, developers, institutions, consultants, and contractors.

Growth

  • Leading pursuit strategy, sourcing, positioning, proposing, and securing of new projects.
  • Strategically networking and positioning JLL as a leader in project management services.

Sound like you? To apply you need to be :

  • 10+ years of local experience pursuing and delivering capital “buildings” projects, including new construction, renovations, fit-outs, and / or upgrades.
  • Experience with hotel and hospitality projects and / or high end corporate fit out
  • Possess “Owner Representative” project management experience working directly for a Client in a fee-for-service consulting business environment.
  • Led major capital projects from inception to completion without supervision
  • Demonstrated client relationship management skills
  • Strong analytical skills and solution development
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to drive consistency in a team or on a project
  • Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe and Microsoft Project
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Travel as needed per project

Preferred Attributes

  • Project Management, Engineering, Architecture, or similar education is an asset.
  • P.Eng. or similar professional designation is an asset.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is an asset.
  • Sustainability designation such as LEED, CSP, ENV SP is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; articulate, responsive, and highly organized.
  • Skilled at MS Office suite of software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with MS Project or other scheduling software is an asset.
