You will drive complex manufacturing projects from initiation through launch, overseeing budgets, timelines, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality production improvements.

The role requires 7+ years in automotive project management, strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, APQP, and proficiency in MS Project and SAP.

• PMP or equivalent certification preferred.

About the Role

Our client, a key player in the automotive manufacturing sector, is looking for a highly capable Senior Project Manager to lead critical initiatives at their facility in East London, Eastern Cape, ZA. This role is vital for driving improvements in production processes, implementing new manufacturing technologies, and ensuring the successful launch of new vehicle models. You will oversee projects from initiation to completion, managing budgets, timelines, and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of automotive manufacturing operations, Lean manufacturing principles, and project management best practices. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of complex projects within the automotive manufacturing environment.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
• Manage cross-functional teams comprising engineers, production staff, quality control, and supply chain personnel.
• Oversee the implementation of new manufacturing technologies, automation solutions, and process improvements.
• Ensure projects align with company quality standards, safety regulations, and production targets.
• Manage vendor relationships and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
• Monitor project progress against milestones and key performance indicators (KPIs), providing regular status reports to senior management.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues proactively.
• Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among all project stakeholders.
• Ensure successful product launches and efficient integration of new manufacturing processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing), Operations Management, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with a strong focus on the automotive manufacturing industry.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex manufacturing projects, including new product introductions and process optimizations.
• In-depth knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, APQP, and other relevant methodologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, SAP).
• Experience with supply chain management and supplier relations within the automotive sector.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
• Experience working within the East London, Eastern Cape, ZA manufacturing hub is a significant advantage.
• PMP or equivalent project management certification is preferred.
