The Role:
This position requires an experienced, outgoing Senior Project Manager in the built environment who is a passionate enabler. The person in this position is the main point of contact between the Company and its Clients. The Senior PM needs to drive the initiating, planning, executing, monitoring & controlling, and closing process groups to ensure the projects are completed on time, within budget, to the required specifications and takes ultimate responsibility and accountability for the performance of the allocated projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of external or internal engineers, architects, quantity surveyors, etc. on built environment projects.
- Manage and control all aspects of projects from initiation to project close out.
- Oversee project production efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget, and to quality standards.
- Regular progress reporting against PMBOK 6th Ed Knowledge Areas and Process Groups.
- Implement remedial action plans to recover project time delays.
- Undertake reviews of extension of time delays and make recommendations to the Client.
- Regular site visits to ascertain site progress, built quality, construction related concerns, and resolve interface coordination issues.
- Preparation of project plans, programmer / schedules (Gantt charts), conducting project health checks and overseeing the implementation of recovery plans, where necessary.
- Assisting the Business Development team and the relevant Executive in identifying opportunities for tendering, preparation of requests for proposals and full tender proposals, as well as assisting with the creation of part content for submission of tenders.
- Generate relevant internal reports for projects as required by the business.
- Source professional partners with specialist skills for Consortiums or Joint Ventures, as well as assess and recommend specialists for tendering purposes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- At least one built environment qualification, e.g. engineering, architecture, quantity surveying, or other building sciences.
- Must be registered as a PrCPM with the SACPCMP.
- 15+ years construction (Consultant-side) project management experience for at least one project with a construction value of +R100 million, from its initiation to the successful completion.
- Property Development (as the Development Manager) experience advantageous.
- Postgraduate qualification advantageous.
- PMBOK PMP desired.
- Extensive experience in management of project teams including all the disciplines of engineering, architects, quantity surveyors, and main contractors.
- Extensive experience with JBCC, FIDIC, NEC3/4, SAICE GCC, CIDB GCC and/or bespoke forms of agreement.
- Good working knowledge of an ISO 9001 certified Quality Management System.
- Relevant working experience with SANS standards, environmental, OHS and other relevant legislation.
