Position Overview

As Senior Project Manager, you will join our Johannesburg Project Management team to provide services that help our clients devise strategies to deliver successful business solutions prior to sanction, achieve confidence around project delivery, ensure projects are effectively managed & controlled, and facilitate the capture and transfer of knowledge.

Main Purpose Of Role

To lead Project Management Commissions and multi-site programmes, taking responsibility for end-to-end service delivery.

To act as the key, day-to-day client interface, ensuring that client objectives are met and that projects are delivered to time, cost targets, and the appropriate quality standards.

Duties of a Senior Project Manager

1. Project management, to include:
1. Advising at a strategic level at the project conception stage, including providing advice on the different approaches that can be adopted to successfully achieve the client's overall objectives.
2. Leading the establishment of the overall success criteria for the project, including time, cost, technical and performance parameters.
3. Planning for and the ongoing management of quality, safety, health, and environment issues.
4. Establishing effective project governance, processes, and systems to be utilized throughout the project.
5. Project planning, including ensuring the production of the detailed project plan.
6. Advising upon the procurement of resources.
7. Leading and facilitating the overall cross-functional project team.
8. Monitoring and applying performance management techniques, including the use of KPIs to improve project performance.
9. Managing the change control process.
10. Managing the procurement of provisional sums.
11. Monitoring and advising upon project finances.
12. Managing the flow of project information between the team and the client, through regular meetings and written communications.
13. Taking a leading role in the interface between design and engineering professionals and client and contractors alike.
14. Ensuring the production of formal project progress and other reports.
15. Taking a leading role in interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages.

Marketing and Business Development

1. Taking responsibility for developing new business opportunities with existing and new Turner & Townsend clients.
2. Identifying and acting upon cross-selling opportunities.
3. Working with Associate Directors and Directors to construct bids for new work.
4. Attending formal client pitches with Assistant Directors and Directors.
5. Ensuring that project case study, photograph, and project CV files are kept up to date.
6. Identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve project management products and services.

Qualifications

1. Degree in Construction Project Management or equivalent qualification.
2. 10+ years' experience in Construction Management / Project Management.
3. Must be registered with a SACPCMP as Professional Construction Project Manager.
4. PMP would be an advantage.
5. South African Industry knowledge and exposure.
6. Working expert knowledge in forms of construction contracts.
7. Experience in multi-site, geographically dispersed roll-out programme, both from a green field, brown field, refurbishment, and fit-out perspective.
8. Large Project experience in projects in excess of RM.
9. Experience delivering projects within Sub-Saharan Africa is beneficial, in addition to South Africa.
