Introduction

The position is at a well-established process plant engineering and manufacturing company based in Johannesburg, focused on international projects.

This is an exceptional opportunity to work on innovative modular process plant projects across various industries, including Metallurgy and Oil & Gas.

The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for executing and managing engineering activities on process plant projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Senior Project Engineer manages conceptual, basic, and detailed engineering activities within a process plant design and construction environment. Maintaining communication between engineering departments, clients, and vendors is essential. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Accountability for project activities such as scheduling, budget control, and technical deliverables.
  2. Frequent visits to project sites, both local and international.
  3. Exposure to new technologies across multiple industries.
Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications:

  • Diploma, BTech, BEng, or BSc Eng in Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering.
  • ECSA registration is desirable.
  • PMP registration is desirable.

Experience:

  • 4-6 years in a similar role.
  • Engineering design experience related to process plants, including studies, FEED, basic, and detailed engineering.
  • Project and package management experience, including budget control, scheduling, and contracts administration.
  • Site installation and commissioning experience are desirable.

Knowledge of applicable mechanical engineering codes, policies, standards, and industry best practices is essential. Familiarity with standard contracts such as EPCM, EPC, LSTK, and forms like FIDIC and NEC is also important. Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and advanced MS Projects skills are required.
