Job description

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Professional Officer (Legal) to provide expert legal support for a 3-month contract. This is a dynamic role offering the opportunity to contribute to significant housing and human settlement initiatives .

As a Senior Professional Officer (Legal), you will be responsible for the following:

  • Legal Case Management: Oversee legal support and advisory processes in defending or taking positions on housing and human settlement matters.
  • Advisory Service: Provide legal advice to the Directorate and political structures on housing and human settlement issues.
  • Legislative/Legal Research: Conduct in-depth research on housing legal matters, case law, relevant legislation, housing policies, and processes.
  • Quality Assurance Management (Compliance): Ensure systems, procedures, and instructions are strictly followed to maintain compliance.
  • Communication and Relationship Building: Develop and sustain strong relationships with key stakeholders across various sectors.
  • Specialised Advisory Service: Provide specialized legal advice to the Executive Director on human settlement initiatives, projects, activities, and reports.
  • Management and Empowerment of Staff: Supervise and manage staff to ensure high productivity, performance, and optimal utilization.

Requirements:- Qualifications: A relevant Degree in Law or equivalent National Diploma in Public Management/Law- Experience: A minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in a legal advisory or case management role.- Skills: Proficiency in office applications and strong communication skills.- License: A valid Code EB Driver's License

This is a short-term contract position and provides an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals to engage with impactful housing projects in the Cape Metro.
