Job summary

A healthcare provider in Northern Cape is seeking a Senior Professional Nurse to support the Unit Manager. You will ensure patient safety, mitigate risks, and mentor new nurses. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of nursing experience and must hold a Professional Nurse qualification. This is a permanent, on-site position with preference given according to the Employment Equity Plan.

Overview

The Senior Professional Nurse supports the Unit Manager in ensuring a safe and positive client experience by mitigating clinical risks and co-ordinating care delivery. They provide direct patient care and mentorship to new and student nurses in the unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure comprehensive and safe patient care by mitigating risks and meeting set clinical quality standards
• Manage the client experience
• Ensure optimal supply, retention, and utilisation of staffing resources
• Empower and build staff competence through continuous assessment and development
• Assist with the effective management of operational expenses (including stock and capital)

Required Education

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Professional Nurse qualification and Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing if managing a specialist unit (e.g. Perioperative Nursing)
