Job summary

Mediclinic Victoria in Tongaat, South Africa is seeking a Senior Professional Nurse to support the Unit Manager, ensuring safe and positive patient experiences while mentoring students and new nurses.

Qualifications

• Professional Nurse qualification is required.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing is preferred for specialist units (e.g. Perioperative).
• Minimum experience as a Professional Nurse in a hospital with mentoring exposure.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

The Senior Professional Nurse supports the Unit Manager in ensuring a safe and positive client experience by mitigating clinical risks and co-ordinating care delivery. They further provide direct patient care, as well as mentorship to new and student nurses in the unit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

1. Ensure comprehensive and safe patient care by mitigating risks and meeting set clinical quality standards
2. Manage the client experience
3. Ensure optimal supply, retention, and utilisation of staffing resources
4. Empower and build staff competence through continuous assessment and development
5. Assist with the effective management of operational expenses (including stock and capital)

Professional Nurse qualification and
