Job summary

Tongaat Hulett is seeking a Procurement Specialist for Voermol Feeds, based on site in KwaZulu-Natal. The role sources, purchases and manages raw materials, packaging, and services for animal feed production, ensuring cost competitiveness and supply continuity within governance standards.

You will coordinate demand planning, manage supplier contracts, and work with SHEQ and engineering teams to mitigate risks and uphold regulatory compliance across the feed supply chain.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management.
• Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience; experience within the feed or agriculture industry is essential.
• Strong commercial acumen with expertise in SAP or similar ERP systems.
• Good understanding of agricultural commodity markets and feed raw materials.
• Knowledge of relevant regulatory and compliance requirements in the animal feed industry.
• Excellent computer skills, analytical ability, communication proficiency, assertiveness, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Procurement Financial and Commercial Applications.
• Manage procurement costs against approved budgets and prevailing market conditions, with attention to price volatility.
• Support Voermol’s working capital objectives and demand forecasting by aligning procurement planning with financial targets.
• Demand Planning and Sourcing.
• Coordinate procurement activities to ensure timely availability of raw materials, additives, and packaging.
• Identify, onboard, and manage suppliers ensuring compliance with sourcing standards and safety/quality specs.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to secure consistent supply and favorable terms.
• Execution and Contract Management; manage supplier contracts, forward contracts and hedging arrangements.
