Responsibilities

• Lead the Procurement Department in achieving strategic and operational objectives.
• Develop and manage the departmental budget and monitor expenditure.
• Review financial performance, investigate variances and implement corrective measures.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs and conserve cash.
• Manage procurement-related financial and operational risks.
• Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers while maintaining quality and service standards.
• Maintain effective relationships with suppliers, project teams and other stakeholders.
• Ensure B-BBEE requirements are met and assist suppliers where appropriate.
• Promote SHEQ compliance and ensure procurement processes align with relevant policies and procedures.
• Lead risk assessments and support the implementation of mitigation measures.
• Recruit, develop and manage Procurement team members.
• Set performance expectations, conduct reviews and provide ongoing coaching and mentorship.
• Identify training requirements and facilitate professional development.

This role requires a confident procurement professional who can balance cost, quality, compliance and operational requirements while providing strong support to project and site teams.

• Ensure pricing secured through procurement activities remains within approved budgets.
• Provide effective oversight of buyers operating across Cape Town.
• Build strong, sustainable supplier partnerships and monitor supplier performance.
• Monitor and control import-related costs.
• Drive supplier compliance with B-BBEE and SHEQ requirements.
• Prioritise site requirements and ensure procurement support is delivered efficiently.
• Provide guidance and advice to site management on procurement matters.

• BCom Degree, Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain or related qualification.
• 8-10 years' relevant working experience.
• At least 5 years in a senior procurement role.
• Valid driver's licence and own vehicle.
• Strong supplier negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Excellent financial and analytical capability.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Ability to operate under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• High level of professionalism, discretion and attention to detail.
