Our client in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, seeks an experienced Senior Process Engineer to optimize chemical processing facilities. You will lead process design, troubleshooting, and improvement initiatives while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance in a demanding industrial environment.

The role requires a chemical engineering degree and 7+ years of relevant experience, with proficiency in Aspen Plus or HYSYS and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of process engineering experience in petrochemical or related industries.
• Experience with process simulation software and data analysis.
• Exposure to PHAs, risk assessments and PSM principles.
• Strong knowledge of reaction engineering, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.

This role is integral to optimizing and ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of their complex chemical processing facilities. You will be responsible for process design, troubleshooting, improvement initiatives, and ensuring adherence to stringent industry standards. This is a key position for an individual looking to leverage their expertise in a challenging industrial environment within the KwaZulu-Natal region, contributing to vital industrial processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes to enhance efficiency, yield, and product quality.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement recommendations to ensure operational safety and regulatory compliance.
• Troubleshoot process upsets and equipment malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, operating procedures, and mass/energy balances.
• Lead or participate in process improvement projects, utilizing methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing.
• Provide technical support and training to plant operators and junior engineers on process operations and safety.

Requirements
