Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Engineer with a focus on chemical energy to join their team in Klerksdorp. You will drive design, optimization and scale-up of chemical processes for energy generation, storage and conversion.

The role requires strong foundations in reaction kinetics, thermodynamics and safety management, with hands-on experience in process simulation tools like Aspen Plus or HYSYS and CAD software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in process engineering with focus on chemical energy systems.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD tools.
• Experience with safety management systems and HAZOP studies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for energy generation, storage, and conversion.
• Conduct process simulations, P&ID development, and equipment specification for new installations and modifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues related to chemical processes, ensuring maximum uptime and efficiency.
• Perform process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement safety measures to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Collaborate with R&D, operations, and engineering teams to scale up laboratory processes to industrial production.
