Responsibilities

The scope of this role will require the incumbent to work in a project-based environment covering all phases of project execution (feasibility, concept, basic, detail, construction support and commissioning).

The individual will engage in process design activities related to producing and checking process engineering deliverables.

The scope of this role will require the incumbent to function in a resource and/or lead role on projects.

As a Project Process Engineer, the individual will be responsible for process deliverables and quality on the project.

Qualifications

• The successful candidate must be in possession of a BSc Chemical Engineering degree with 14 years engineering experience, of which 8 years should be in a contracting environment working on projects in the energy and chemical/refining/petrochemical industries.
• Professional Registration with ECSA is preferable.
• Strong experience in feasibility, concept and basic engineering is essential.
• The successful candidate must understand the fundamentals of unit operation sizing and have an understanding of the relevant process safety systems as well as design procedures.
• The successful candidate must be capable of producing Process Flow and Instrumentation Diagrams and have experience in Process Simulation Packages (Aspen or PROII), Heat Exchanger Ratings (HTRI), unit operation sizing and safety related system sizing.
• The successful candidate must have successfully performed in the position of lead engineer on at least 3 large projects in the basic and detail engineering phase. The candidate must have participated in commissioning and plant start-up.
• The successful candidate must display understanding of process control systems and be able to propose alternative efficient schemes.
• The successful candidate must be able to provide technical assistance across a multitude of projects and be available and approachable by colleagues.
• Experience in distillation processes is essential.
