Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Development Scientist to drive scale-up of chemical synthesis from lab to pilot scale in Randburg. The role emphasizes process safety, optimization, and collaboration with engineering, analytical development and manufacturing teams.

The candidate will utilize DoE and statistical tools, manage risk assessments, and contribute to regulatory filings while advancing product development in a cutting-edge R&D environment. Hybrid work is available in Randburg.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process chemistry or chemical process development.
• Proven track record of scaling up chemical processes from lab to pilot scale.
• Strong understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and chemical engineering principles.
• Experience with process safety assessments and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize chemical synthesis processes for pilot-scale and manufacturing.
• Conduct process hazard analyses and implement safety protocols for chemical operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered during process scale-up and validation.
• Utilize Design of Experiments (DoE) and other statistical tools to optimize process parameters.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, analytical development, and manufacturing teams.
• Author detailed process development reports and contribute to regulatory filings.
