Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Chemist to optimize and scale up chemical manufacturing processes in Paarl. You will drive safety, efficiency, and cost reductions while troubleshooting and developing new routes for large-scale production.

The role requires advanced degrees and at least seven years of experience in process chemistry or chemical engineering, with hands-on PHAs and process safety expertise, analytical proficiency, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of experience in process chemistry or chemical engineering.
• Strong understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and unit operations.
• Experience with process safety management and HAZOP studies.
• Proficiency in analytical techniques relevant to process monitoring and control.

Responsibilities

• Optimize existing chemical manufacturing processes for yield, purity, safety, and cost reduction.
• Develop and scale-up new synthetic routes from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial production.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement robust safety protocols.
• Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues encountered during manufacturing.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless process implementation.
• Author process descriptions, validation reports, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
