Position : Senior / Principal System Engineer – Aircraft Development

Incomar is an aerospace and defence company based in Centurion, South Africa.

We are continuously expanding our specialised product development and flight operations capabilities.

The group was established in South Africa, with its origins in military aircraft weapons and avionics integration and flight testing.

The company is well established in the local and international industry, with a strong capability in several specialist areas, including:

1. Systems Design, Development, and Integration.
2. System Testing on a range of platforms/products.
3. Product Development.
4. Flight Test Execution and Support.

Incomar is looking for motivated individuals to perform Systems Engineering tasks on projects currently being executed by Incomar, including unmanned airborne platform development projects, as well as the integration and testing of these platforms.

The successful individuals will be required to work with other engineers and system engineers in a multi-disciplinary team to realise these products and projects and ensure that all applicable requirements are met.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical engineering. Electrical/Electronic and Mechanical engineering graduates with relevant experience will also be considered.

Required Skills and Experience:

1. 10+ years of engineering & development experience and at least 5+ years in the aerospace sector.
2. Product development and System Engineering skills involving all aspects of the 'V' life cycle and the system engineering management process.
3. Proficient in requirements management (experience with Cradle/Jama/Doors preferable, but not mandatory).
4. Configuration and product lifecycle management skills.
5. System integration engineering skills.
6. Technical writing skills (e.g., MS Visio, MATLAB).
7. Proficient in MS Office.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

1. Experience in avionics LRU design & development.
2. Experience in UAV/unmanned platform development.
3. Experience in flight testing of airborne platforms.
4. Experience in integration and flight testing of systems onto airborne platforms.
5. Knowledge or experience in the RTCA DO-C and RTCA DO- design processes.
6. Experience in managing a technical team or project.
7. System safety engineering skills.
8. Logistical support engineering skills.

Responsibilities:

1. Performing allocated systems engineering tasks and design work.
2. Conducting development according to the 'V' product development life cycle and system engineering management process.
3. Writing and maintaining system and sub-system specifications.
4. Writing and maintaining system and sub-system test, verification and compliance documentation.
5. Writing and maintaining system and sub-system interface documentation.
6. Perform, execute and document system and sub-system level compliance, verification, validation, qualification and certification activities.
7. Requirement and traceability management.
8. Assist with aircraft integration and test activities.
9. Participate in aircraft flight testing activities.
10. Simulation, data analysis and report writing applicable to allocated tasks.
11. Ensuring that customer requirements and applicable standards are met.
12. Assisting with cost and time estimates for engineering tasks/projects.
13. Planning and executing tasks within agreed budgets and timescales.
14. Apply sound ethical principles.
