Placements24 is assisting a well-established engineering consultancy to recruit a Principal Civil Engineer to lead operations in Kimberley, Northern Cape. The role demands senior oversight of major civil projects, mentoring teams, and driving technical excellence across the region.

You will oversee inception to completion, ensure compliance with SA standards, manage budgets and client relations, and contribute to business development.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (PrEng) is essential.
• A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with leadership experience.
• Proven track record in managing large, complex infrastructure projects.
• Expertise in project management methodologies and financial oversight.
• Strong understanding of South African engineering standards and practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working within the Northern Cape province is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization, design, and execution of major civil engineering projects, including water, wastewater, and transport infrastructure.
• Provide high-level technical guidance and engineering oversight to project teams.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards, codes, and environmental regulations.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
• Mentor and develop junior and intermediate engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Oversee the preparation of technical reports, design documentation, and tender submissions.
• Contribute to business development and the acquisition of new projects.
