Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Senior Power Plant Engineer to oversee operations and maintenance of energy infrastructure in Pietermaritzburg. The role focuses on reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance while driving efficiency improvements and mentoring junior engineers.

The successful candidate will lead maintenance planning for turbines, boilers, and control systems, analyze performance, and collaborate with operations and management on project initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in power plant operations and maintenance.
• Proven track record in project management and leading engineering teams.
• Knowledge of power generation technologies, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
• Proficiency with plant information systems and diagnostic tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and supervision of maintenance activities for power generation equipment, including turbines, boilers, and control systems.
• Conduct in-depth performance analysis of plant operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing efficiency-enhancing strategies.
• Develop and manage the plant's preventative maintenance schedule to minimize downtime and maximize asset lifespan.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues, providing timely and effective solutions to maintain operational integrity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, procurement, and management, on project planning and execution.
