Placements24 seeks a highly experienced Senior Scientist specialized in Polymer Chemistry to lead R&D in Welkom. You will direct polymer research programs, mentor junior scientists, and collaborate with manufacturing and product development to drive innovative polymer materials across applications.

Qualifications

• PhD in Polymer Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive research in polymer synthesis, characterization, and applications.
• Demonstrated expertise in various polymerization mechanisms (e.g., free radical, condensation, ionic).
• Proficiency in polymer characterization techniques and interpretation of results.

Responsibilities

• Lead research initiatives focused on the synthesis, characterization, and application of novel polymers.
• Design and execute experimental plans for polymer development, including polymerization techniques and material modification.
• Characterize polymer properties using techniques such as GPC, DSC, TGA, FTIR, and mechanical testing.
• Evaluate polymer performance for specific applications and provide technical guidance for product implementation.
• Supervise and mentor junior researchers and technicians involved in polymer science projects.
• Contribute to intellectual property generation through invention disclosures and patent applications.
