Job summary

Cloudera's IT team is seeking a Sr. Staff Platform Operations Engineer to design and run the internal platform used by engineers and business teams. You will own deployment, reliability, and automated management of Linux-based infrastructure across on-prem and cloud.

As a technical SME, you will implement IaC using Terraform and Ansible, enforce security-first practices, build automated pipelines, and mentor juniors while contributing to high-availability, compliant operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or 8+ years of equivalent enterprise experience.
• Hybrid infrastructure experience: on-premise, virtualization, OpenStack, networking; cloud basics.
• Linux systems administration (Red Hat, Rocky, Ubuntu) with CLI mastery.
• Python and shell scripting for automation.
• Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible) and Git.
• Enterprise storage experience (Dell PowerStore, Pure Storage).
• Security-first mindset for automated infrastructure.
• Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls).

Responsibilities

• Architect and deploy on-premise and cloud Linux infra with high availability.
• Develop and maintain IaC and automation frameworks (Terraform, Ansible, Foreman/MaaS).
• Automate system security hardening and configuration management.
• Build deployment pipelines for IT infrastructure services.
• Collaborate with IT Systems, CloudOps, Security, and Eng teams as SME.
• Participate in on-call rotation with runbooks and docs.
• Document automation, audits, and compliance.
• Design and administer enterprise storage platforms (PowerStore, Pure).
• Mentor junior team members.
