Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Pipeline Engineer for our client’s gas transmission network in East London, Eastern Cape. This hybrid role focuses on design, integrity management, and safe operation of extensive pipeline infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of ASME B31.8, API standards, materials, corrosion control, and NDT, with 8+ years in pipeline engineering and a PE registration preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in pipeline engineering, with a focus on gas transmission.
• Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA preferred.
• Must be legally eligible to work in South Africa.

Responsabilités

• Lead the design and engineering of new gas transmission pipelines and modifications to existing systems.
• Develop and implement comprehensive pipeline integrity management plans, including corrosion control and inline inspection programs.
• Conduct stress analysis, surge analysis, and hydraulic modeling for pipeline systems.
• Specify materials, coatings, and cathodic protection systems for pipelines.
• Oversee pipeline construction, commissioning, and hydrostatic testing activities.
• Ensure compliance with South African pipeline safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Perform fitness-for-service assessments and recommend repair or replacement strategies.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to address pipeline issues.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources for pipeline engineering projects.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.

About the Role

Our client, a leader in South Africa's natural gas transmission network, is seeking an experienced Senior Pipeline Engineer to join their engineering team in East London, Eastern Cape. This hybrid role is crucial for the design, integrity management, and safe operation of the company's extensive pipeline infrastructure. You will be responsible for overseeing pipeline projects, conducting integrity assessments, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementing best practices in pipeline engineering. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of pipeline design codes (e.g., ASME B31.8), materials, corrosion control, and non-destructive testing. This position demands strong analytical skills, effective project management capabilities, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including field operations, integrity specialists, and regulatory bodies. • In-depth knowledge of pipeline design codes (ASME B31.8, API standards), materials, and welding procedures.
• Experience with pipeline integrity assessment techniques, including corrosion monitoring and risk assessment.
• Proficiency in pipeline design and analysis software.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Must be legally eligible to work in South Africa.
