Job summary

Senior PHP/Laravel Developer with Infrastructure & DevOps experience is sought by a partner company, based in South Africa. You will balance software development (≈70%) with infrastructure administration (≈30%), covering architecture, CI/CD, monitoring, and production incident management.

You will lead, design, implement, and improve data-driven applications using PHP, Laravel, Filament, and PostgreSQL, while ensuring system reliability and security in a remote-working setup.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience in ICT
• Strong PHP and Laravel experience; PHP 8.4, Laravel 12 advantageous
• Experience with PostgreSQL, APIs, and data-driven apps
• Solid secure coding, automated testing, and code reviews; Pest, PHPUnit, PHPStan, Laravel Pint beneficial
• CI/CD, Git-based workflows, Jenkins, deployment automation
• Hands-on DevOps and infrastructure administration (Linux, virtualization, containers)
• Experience with Proxmox, Ceph/CephFS, ZFS, Icinga, Grafana, Loki; OVH-hosted infra preferred
• Clear technical documentation and ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders
• English proficiency required
• Degree in CS/SE/IT or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of master data management or procurement systems is a plus

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain business-critical applications with PHP/Laravel, PostgreSQL
• Design and maintain application architecture, APIs and data integrations
• Maintain automated tests, static analysis, and code-quality checks (Pest, PHPStan, Laravel Pint)
• Support CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git, and Gitea
• Provide technical leadership and code reviews for the team
• Lead incident response and root-cause analysis for production issues
• Administer high-availability infrastructure (Proxmox, Ceph/CephFS, ZFS, Linux)
• Maintain platform operations: PostgreSQL, Jenkins, Gitea, web servers, Icinga, Grafana, Loki
• Implement security, backup, recovery, and capacity planning measures
• Document architectures, runbooks, and operational procedures
• Monitor, optimize deployment processes and automate repetitive tasks
• Contribute to continuous improvement of services and systems
