Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences; Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in operations geology within the oil and gas industry.
Proficiency in well log analysis, stratigraphic correlation, and geological modeling software.

Responsibilities

Provide real-time geological guidance during drilling operations, including formation evaluation and well planning.
Analyze and interpret well logs, core data, and seismic information to build and update subsurface geological models.
Collaborate with the drilling team to identify and mitigate geological hazards encountered during drilling.
Ensure accurate and timely data acquisition, quality control, and management of geological datasets.
Contribute to reserve estimations and resource assessments based on geological findings.

About the Role

Our client seeks an experienced Senior Operations Geologist to support their ongoing oil and gas exploration and production activities in the Mossel Bay region. This role focuses on real-time geological support during drilling operations, geological data management, and contributing to reservoir understanding. You will work closely with drilling engineers, geophysicists, and other geoscientists to ensure efficient and effective subsurface characterization. This position offers a blend of field support and office-based analysis, contributing directly to the success of exploration and development projects in the Western Cape.

Key Responsibilities

Provide real-time geological guidance during drilling operations, including formation evaluation and well planning.
Analyze and interpret well logs, core data, and seismic information to build and update subsurface geological models.
Collaborate with the drilling team to identify and mitigate geological hazards encountered during drilling.
