Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly analytical Senior Risk Analyst to join the Richards Bay team. The role focuses on identifying and mitigating operational risks, developing risk frameworks, and delivering strategic insights to senior management for resilience and compliance.

The ideal candidate has a strong quantitative background, clear communication skills, and a proactive approach to risk identification within the South African financial services landscape.

Qualifications

• Master's degree preferred in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related quantitative field.
• Minimum 5 years in operational risk management, preferably in SA insurance/financial services.
• Strong understanding of COSO, Basel II/III risk frameworks.
• Advanced analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with data analysis tools (SQL, Python, R).
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong understanding of insurance operations and processes.
• FRM or PRM certifications advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and monitor operational risks across all business functions.
• Develop and maintain the operational risk management framework for the company.
• Conduct risk assessments, scenario analyses, and stress testing.
• Design KRIs and KPIs to track risk levels.
• Investigate risk events, analyze root causes, propose corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver risk management training and awareness programs.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and align with industry best practices.
• Prepare risk reports for senior management and committees.
• Collaborate with internal audit and compliance teams for cohesive risk management.
• Stay updated on emerging risks and industry trends.
