About the Role

Our client, a world-renowned engineering and construction firm serving the Oil & Gas sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Offshore Structural Engineer to join their team in Sandton, Gauteng. This critical role involves the design, analysis, and integrity management of offshore structures such as platforms, subsea templates, and pipelines, ensuring their safety and compliance with stringent industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of structural engineering principles, finite element analysis (FEA), and relevant design codes (e.g., DNV, API). You will play a key role in delivering complex offshore projects from concept to completion. Working from Sandton, a major business center, you will contribute to vital energy infrastructure projects within Gauteng and potentially internationally. We seek a results-oriented individual with strong technical leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural design and analysis of offshore platforms, jackets, topsides, subsea structures, and other related facilities.
• Utilize advanced finite element analysis (FEA) software (e.g., ANSYS, STAAD.Pro, SACS) to assess structural integrity under various load conditions (wave, wind, seismic, operational).
• Ensure designs comply with relevant international codes, standards, and client specifications.
• Conduct structural integrity assessments and life extension studies for existing offshore assets.
• Develop structural design reports, calculations, and drawings.
• Liaise with other engineering disciplines (e.g., naval architecture, process, subsea) to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Review fabrication drawings and provide technical support during the construction and installation phases.
• Mentor junior structural engineers and contribute to the technical development of the team.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in offshore structural engineering technology and practices.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a specialization in offshore structures.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in offshore structural engineering, with a significant focus on the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proven experience with FEA software for offshore structural analysis.
• Thorough knowledge of relevant offshore design codes and standards (e.g., DNV, API, ISO).
• Experience with fatigue analysis, seismic analysis, and blast analysis is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage complex projects and meet demanding deadlines.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration or eligibility is an advantage.
