Job summary

Boardroom Appointments seeks an experienced backend software engineer to join Cape Town-based cross-functional agile teams. You will contribute to hands-on development with Java as the main language, alongside Spring, Hibernate and other open source technologies, while supporting architectural decisions with the technical lead.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in backend development, strong NodeJS/Typescript foundations, and experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and message brokers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience as a backend software engineer.
• Proficient in NodeJS and Typescript.
• Experience with TDD/BDD test frameworks.
• Familiar with SDLC optimisation and automation tools.
• Experience with SQL (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Couchbase).
• Experience with message brokers (RabbitMQ, Kafka).

Responsibilities

• Working on client projects, sometimes also at the customer side.
• Be a good team player in cross-functional agile software development teams.
• Assist in software architectural decisions together with the technical lead.
• Be fully involved in hands-on development: using Java as the main programming language, plus Spring, Hibernate and other open source technologies.
