Placements24 is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer specializing in Node.js to join our Randburg engineering team. You will design and maintain scalable backend services and APIs, collaborate with frontend teams, and contribute to architectural decisions.

The role requires deep Node.js and JavaScript knowledge, asynchronous programming, and solid experience with relational and NoSQL databases. You will participate in code reviews, ensure code quality, and stay current with Node.js developments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 5 years of professional backend development experience with Node.js.
• Strong JavaScript (Node.js) skills and frameworks like Express.js or NestJS.
• Solid understanding of asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture, and microservices.
• Experience with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• RESTful API design principles and best practices.
• Version control with Git; familiarity with testing frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services and APIs using Node.js.
• Collaborate with frontend and product teams to define and implement features.
• Write clean, well-documented and testable code.
