Purpose : The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining LAN / WAN infrastructures and F5 load balancers for our clients.
Key Objective : The Senior Network Engineer will assist in planning, designing, and implementing F5 load balancers, perform root cause analysis, liaise with various vendors, and recommend global best practices.
Education :
- Minimum : School Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
Professional / Tertiary :
Minimum Requirements / Experience
- Valid F5 Certification
- 5+ years of experience in network load balancing
- 3+ years of experience with Cisco / HP Aruba / Huawei
- 3+ years of experience with other core technologies (Microsoft, Linux, Nortel, Avaya)
- Routing and switching experience
- Experience working on large infrastructures
- MCSE certification, with involvement in the design, implementation, and maintenance of various network-related arenas
- Formal international F5 certification, regularly updated
- Understanding of the corporate identity and governance mechanisms of the organization
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures to ensure compliance
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication skills at all organizational levels
- Proficiency in business English for verbal and written communication
- Active listening and the ability to interpret and act on information sensibly
- Accurate information reporting and documentation skills
- Ability to interact with people at all levels
- Attention to detail and professionalism in all situations

Key Tasks
Internal Policies and Procedures :
- Familiarize with and adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Comply with all applicable ISO 9000 processes and procedures
Site Installations / Surveys :
- Install equipment for upgrades or new implementations based on organizational requirements
- Analyze installation requests to determine nature and extent
- Determine dependencies and impacts on other equipment / systems
- Inform relevant system owners of necessary actions
- Conduct pre-implementation testing and develop installation plans
- Identify role players and assign responsibilities
- Submit change requests and conduct workshops for implementation
- Perform post-implementation testing and monitor systems for compliance
- Document processes and develop equipment / system manuals
- Install systems within allocated time frames and in accordance with policies, procedures, and legal requirements
Troubleshooting and Corrective Maintenance :
- Identify faults and utilize diagnostics tools
- Consult work instructions / procedures for repair actions
- Repair faults or escalate for solutions
- Test and implement solutions, monitor functionality, and document results
- Conduct corrective maintenance within allocated time frames
Preventative Maintenance :
- Initiate preventative maintenance as per policies and procedures
- Determine maintenance actions and consult relevant procedures
- Complete maintenance, identify faults, repair, and test solutions
- Implement solutions, monitor functionality, and document results
- Conduct maintenance within allocated time frames
Executive QA on Network Designs and Installations :
- Ensure quality assurance on all network designs and installations conducted by Network Engineers and Junior Network Engineers
General / Self Development :
- Stay updated on technology changes and update certifications accordingly
- Perform any ad hoc functions required by management
