About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Administrator to join their IT operations team in Mahikeng. This hybrid role offers a mix of on-site responsibilities and remote flexibility, focusing on the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust and secure network infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and integrity of the company's network systems, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing solutions to meet evolving business needs. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of network protocols, hardware, and security, coupled with strong problem-solving and communication skills. This position is key to maintaining seamless connectivity and supporting critical business operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network problems to ensure optimal operation and minimal downtime.
• Implement and manage network security measures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
• Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and junior IT staff.
• Plan and execute network upgrades and expansions to accommodate business growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in network administration and support.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and network security principles.
• Hands-on experience with network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, HP).
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools and technologies.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CompTIA Network+ are highly desirable.
