Job summary

IgniteByte Digital in South Africa is seeking a senior developer to maintain and enhance a certification and learner-records system for a public-sector client. You will work on-site with the client's team in Hatfield, Pretoria, and transfer skills to their in-house developers.

The contract role requires 7+ years of C#, ASP.NET Razor Pages, and SQL Server experience, with opportunities to mentor and document knowledge for future use.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on experience with C#, ASP.NET Razor Pages, SQL Server and stored procedures.
• A relevant qualification, with certificates available.
• Available to work full-time on-site in Hatfield, Pretoria.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support a live C# and ASP.NET Razor Pages application, resolving defects and production incidents.
• Design and build enhancements, including business logic in SQL Server stored procedures.
• Set up and manage source control on GitHub and improve a currently manual deployment process.
• Deploy and troubleshoot on Microsoft Azure Windows virtual machines.
• Test changes thoroughly and keep technical documentation up to date.
• Mentor the client's developers and run structured knowledge transfer.

The Role

We are building a team to maintain, support and enhance an established certification and learner-records system for a public-sector client in the education and training sector. You will be the senior developer on the system, working on-site with the client's team and transferring skills and knowledge to their in-house developers.

Location: On-site, Hatfield, Pretoria

Engagement: Contract for the duration of the client contract

What You Will Do

Requirements

• At least 7 years of hands‑on experience with C#, ASP.NET Razor Pages, SQL Server and stored procedures
• A relevant qualification, with certificates available

Nice to Have

• Microsoft certifications (e.g. Azure Developer, MCSA or MCSD)
• Experience with Azure virtual machines, CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows
• Experience improving or documenting legacy systems
• Experience mentoring developers or leading handovers
