Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Engineer in Nanotechnology to join our advanced R&D facility in Sandton. You will design, fabricate, and characterize nanomaterials and devices for next-generation applications in a cutting-edge laboratory.

The role offers a hybrid work setting balancing on-site experimentation and remote collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers.

Qualifications

• PhD or MSc in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related.
• 5+ years of hands-on nanotechnology research and development.
• Proficiency with nanofabrication techniques and characterization tools.
• Strong analytical and experimental design skills; hybrid lab experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, synthesize, and fabricate novel nanostructures and nanomaterials.
• Utilize characterization techniques (SEM, TEM, AFM, XRD) to analyze nanoscale properties.
• Develop and optimize deposition and patterning processes for nanoscale materials.
• Conduct performance testing and validation of nano-devices and systems.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers to integrate nanoscale components into larger systems.
• Maintain detailed records and prepare technical reports and presentations.
• Ensure safety protocols in a high-tech laboratory environment.
