About the Role

Our client, a respected municipal consulting firm, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Municipal Engineer to join their team in Vereeniging, Gauteng. This position is critical for the planning, design, and supervision of municipal infrastructure projects, including water, wastewater, roads, and storm drainage systems. You will be responsible for managing projects from conception to completion, ensuring they meet community needs and regulatory standards. This is a full-time, on-site role requiring regular interaction with municipal clients and site personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and project management of municipal infrastructure projects such as water reticulation, sewer networks, and road upgrades.
• Conduct feasibility studies, conceptual designs, and detailed engineering designs.
• Prepare tender documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Oversee construction supervision and contract administration.
• Liaise with municipal officials, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with relevant national and local standards and regulations.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians.
• Provide technical expertise and support to the municipal planning and operations departments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is essential.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in municipal engineering, covering various infrastructure types.
• Proven experience in project management, including budget and schedule control.
• Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, water modelling software).
• Strong understanding of municipal planning processes and infrastructure development requirements.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working with municipalities in the Vereeniging area or Gauteng Province is highly advantageous.
