Job description

Job Title: Senior M&E Officer

As our Senior M&E Officer, you'll play a critical role in shaping how Click Learning measures success, with a focus on continually improving our implementation to enhance impact.

You will design robust monitoring frameworks, advise on data collection, analyze program impact, and generate insights that inform decision-making at every level.

Your work will directly contribute to improving literacy, numeracy, and digital skills for South Africa's next generation.

This is more than a data job—it's an opportunity to lead a team, translate numbers into narratives, and drive real-world change.

You will be responsible for the Data & Insights team, which currently includes a Data Analyst and Research Project Coordinator. The broader team also includes EdTech Specialists.

Contract & Location
  • Contract: Two-year fixed-term contract
  • Location: Johannesburg

Reporting Line: Head of Research & Insights

Key Roles and Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement data-driven M&E frameworks to assess program effectiveness.
  2. Define KPIs aligned with program goals and donor requirements.
  3. Ensure data integrity, ethical research practices, and compliance with education policies.
  4. Lead cross-functional collaboration to align M&E strategies with organizational goals.
  5. Oversee quantitative online data collection (both routine and project-specific) and qualitative data collection.
  6. Manage and clean large datasets, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  7. Use advanced analytics tools (R or Python) to analyze data, discover trends, and generate insights.
  8. Design real-time dashboards and reporting tools to support evidence-based decision-making.
  9. Translate complex data into actionable insights for internal teams, funders, and education partners.
  10. Prepare research reports, donor presentations, and impact briefs that tell a compelling story.
  11. Contribute to funding proposals and organizational strategy using M&E insights.
  12. Collaborate with government, education partners, and research institutions to align efforts.
  13. Represent Click Learning at M&E forums, research conferences, and donor meetings.
  14. Support government partners in interpreting and using data to inform education policy.
  15. Train program teams on data collection, evaluation methodologies, and adaptive learning.
  16. Facilitate learning workshops to interpret findings and inform program design.
  17. Promote a culture of continuous learning and data-driven decision-making.
Qualifications and Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in M&E or research within education or social development sectors.
  • Master's degree in M&E, Education, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related fields.
  • Strong skills in quantitative research methods and analysis.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization (R or Python); experience with STATA is a plus.
  • Experience with PowerBI and SQL is advantageous.
  • Some experience with qualitative research methods.
  • Ability to translate complex data into practical insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working on donor-funded projects with reporting requirements.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
