Job summary

The Mine Safety Engineer at Anglo American Platinum in Rustenburg is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs across all sites to protect workers, equipment, and the environment.

You will conduct risk assessments, ensure compliance with local and international safety regulations, and lead incident investigations while collaborating with engineering, operations and HR to embed safety into daily operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining, OH&S, or related field.
• 5+ years in mine safety or occupational health.
• Experience in large-scale SA mining preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain mine safety policies aligned with SA mining law.
• Conduct site inspections, identify hazards, and assess risks.
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations and HR to embed safety.
• Deliver safety training and monitor performance metrics.
