Placements24 is seeking a strategic Mine Planning Engineer to join our client’s team near Vereeniging. You will develop short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans ensuring safe, cost-effective extraction while meeting regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Mining Engineering, has 8+ years in mine planning and design, and is proficient with Deswik, Vulcan, or Surpac. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential for cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or closely related field.
• 8+ years of experience in mine planning and design.
• Proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan or Surpac.
• Strong understanding of geology, geomechanics, and economic evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain integrated short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans using advanced mine planning software.
• Collaborate with geologists to interpret resource models and convert them into mineable reserves.
• Design pit layouts, haul roads, and scheduling for open-pit or underground operations.
• Optimize mine sequencing and production schedules to maximize value and efficiency.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects or expansions.
• Ensure all mine plans comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
