eThekwini Municipality is seeking a qualified Medical Practitioner to manage communicable diseases, including TB and HIV/AIDS, and oversee clinical care services. The role involves coordination of health resources, compliance with legislation, and providing high-quality clinical services. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Medicine and relevant experience in management of communicable diseases, with a focus on ARV initiation.
To coordinate and control the Department’s planning and development to the communicable
Diseases (Tuberculosis, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV / AIDS act) Health care services and
attending to the clinical management and primary health care and providing a consultative service
to the nursing personnel at the clinic level in accordance to the requirements of the unit.
Key Responsibility Areas
Managing communicable diseases (TB, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV / Aids etc.) in the
Department.
Controlling specific procedures and measure pertaining to research and compliance to
relevant National, Provincial and Municipal legislation.
Coordinating functions associated with the financial and human resources management.
Contributing to the provision of a high-quality clinical service.
Performing specific activities associated with communication / liaison support with relevant
stakeholders.

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) (NQF Level 8) or equivalent.
Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical
Valid motor vehicle driving license
6 years relevant experience of which one year must be in the provision of ARV initiation
service.
Computer Literacy.
Preferred Requirements
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) (NQF Level 8) or equivalent.
Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical
Dispensing certificate.
7 years relevant experience in Communicable Diseases Management
