Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly capable Mechanical Engineer to join our on-site operations team in Mahikeng, North West. You will lead mechanical projects, drive maintenance programs and optimise plant performance in a heavy industrial setting.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Pr.Eng with ECSA, and at least 6 years of progressive experience in mining, manufacturing or processing plants. Strong design, maintenance and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Professional registration as Pr.Eng with ECSA is required.
• Minimum 6 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience in heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of design, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and materials science.
• Experience with plant maintenance, condition monitoring and reliability engineering.
• Proficiency in CAD and simulation software.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement mechanical systems for industrial applications.
• Oversee installation, commissioning and maintenance of plant machinery.
• Conduct inspections and diagnostics to identify issues.
• Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical problems and implement solutions.
• Manage projects with scope, budget, schedule and execution.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety and environmental policies.
• Collaborate with production, operations and electrical teams to optimise performance.
• Prepare technical reports and specifications for mechanical systems.
