Job description

Introduction

We are looking for 3 individuals with 10 years' experience as registered ECSA - Pr Eng within the Building Services Sector.

The positions are based in Alberton, Durban, and Kimberley branches.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Minimum 10 years' post-qualification experience in the Building Services Sector with ECSA Registration OR experience in designing within the Healthcare Sector, specifically hospitals.
• Competent in Mechanical design and installations (Wet Services, Fire Services, Medical Services, Compressed Air, Laundry Equipment, etc.)
• Competent in tender and bills of quantities compilation and knowledge of various contracts e.g., JBCC, NEC3, etc.
• Competent with Designs and Construction Management; able to run a project from condition assessment, inception, up to project handover with minimal supervision.
• Able to manage project finances comfortably, including budgeting, payment certification, cost reporting, and final accounts.
• Experience managing large projects (service value of millions) and mega projects (service value of +R million) independently.
• Vast experience in site inspections, condition assessments, and reporting.
• Experience in client liaison, engagement with professional teams, meetings, and site supervision.
• Proven ability to write high-quality technical reports.
• Experience conducting feasibility studies and preparing reports.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in mentoring other engineers.
• Draft, implement, and monitor project cashflows; prepare and present reports to senior management as required.
• Ensure accurate cashflow preparation, capturing projects to be invoiced and quantum invoiced monthly.
• Liaise regularly with finance to provide accurate monthly invoicing details.
• Conduct ongoing skills audits for the department and report on skills gaps to senior management and HR monthly.
• Strong analytical, literacy, and numerical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven leadership skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Adhere to Mekan QMS policies, processes, and procedures, as well as HR policies.

Desired Experience & Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering and ECSA Pr registration.
• Eng Registration with ECSA; Fire Registration (advantageous).
• Registrations with ASHRAE, SAIRAC, SAIMECHE are advantageous.
• Design experience of existing high-rise buildings; familiarity with CANUTE or other Fire Software.
• Valid driver's license with own vehicle; willingness to travel and work long hours as required.
