Senior Mechanical Engineer

Respected engineering consultancy in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer (PrEng / PrTech) to head up a small, growing Building Services division.

Requirements:

• BSc / BEng. BTech. Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in the complete design and detailing of HVAC & plumbing systems of single & multi-unit residential, hospitality, commercial and retail buildings.
• ECSA - Professionally Registered.
• Knowledge of thermal modelling of buildings for SANS 10400-XA rational designs.
• Ability to manage clients, projects, fees, scope & teams to achieve budget, schedule, and deliverable objectives.
• Knowledge of BIM software and Revit MEP.
• Willingness to travel abroad to remote sites.

• Management of a diverse cross-section of building related wet services & HVAC projects.
• Applying buildings engineering & project management knowledge to meet project requirements.
• Sharing knowledge with others by serving as a teacher & mentor.
• Holding project team members accountable.
• Meeting technical, contractual, schedule, budgetary and client service objectives.
• Applying strong mechanical engineering skills, experience, knowledge & oversight to projects.
• Managing & planning resources & workflow to produce the design documentation, drawing and calculations required.
• Nurturing existing client relationships & pursuing opportunities for new business.
• Presenting concepts & proposals to clients and design teams.
• Maintaining & expanding current knowledge of appropriate mechanical technologies & trends, as well as strengthening your own skills.
• Participating in meetings, initiatives & projects that support the practice & firm-wide goals.
