Job description

CMTi Mining Manufacturing in Samrand, Centurion is looking to hire a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer.

CMTi is a technology-based company designing and manufacturing robotic mining equipment for remote control mining operations, which is battery powered.

The equipment is unique in the mining industry worldwide and is protected by seven different patents.

The focus of CMTi is to change the mining landscape for mine owners, shareholders, and workers and to improve safety during mining operations.

Minimum Requirements for Position:

• BEng (Mechanical) degree from a recognized academic university. Note: Candidates from universities of technology will not be considered.
• Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (PrEng) with ECSA.
• Minimum 10 years' experience.
• The successful candidate must be technology and quality driven.
• Experience in design and large/mass manufacturing of mechanical machines.
• Ability to interpret client requirements for modifications/upgrades.
• Experience in checking and redlining manufacturing drawings – attention to detail is essential.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, Visio (for hydraulic schematics), and MS Project.
• Ability to act as a technical intermediary between CTO and workshop personnel.
• Sound experience in hydraulic design.
• Workshop management experience is essential.
• Experience managing subcontractors (boilermaking and machining) – delivery and QA.
• Good understanding of quality assurance.
• Team player willing to collaborate with electrical/electronic, software engineers, and site managers.
• The position is based at the head office in Samrand, Centurion.
• Willingness to provide higher-level mechanical support underground as needed (not permanent).
• Must be medically fit.
• Must have a valid police clearance.
