Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Mathematics Teacher for a high school in George, Western Cape. The role requires a deep knowledge of the secondary mathematics curriculum and a passion for igniting students’ interest in quantitative reasoning.

You will deliver high-impact lessons, mentor junior teachers, and contribute to academic excellence. The ideal candidate holds a QTS or equivalent qualification and at least 7 years of high school teaching experience, with demonstrated mastery

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of high school teaching experience with a strong record of student achievement.
• Expertise in advanced mathematics topics (calculus and algebra).
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Familiarity with modern pedagogical approaches to mathematics education.

Responsibilities

• Teach high school mathematics ensuring comprehensive curriculum coverage.
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans for diverse learners.
• Assess student progress using assignments, tests and projects with timely feedback.
• Mentor junior mathematics teachers and support pedagogy and curriculum delivery.
• Contribute to development and review of the school's mathematics curriculum.
• Foster an inclusive classroom that promotes mathematical inquiry and problem-solving.
