Role:

Zutari Tshwane / Cape Town is looking for Senior Materials Technicians (SMT) to join their team, responsible for contracts management within the project environment, especially on SANRAL Projects.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum of 20 Years’ experience in the Materials Field without any qualification, or N.Dip in Civil Engineering with at least 10 Years’ experience, or Pr Techni Eng with at least 5 Years’ experience
• Experience as Senior Materials Technician (SMT) on SANRAL projects is required
• Thorough knowledge of specifications and Bill of Quantities (COLTO / COTO, SANS 1200, project-specific, etc.)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Good administrative, analytical, and logical skills
• Attention to detail
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client relation skills

Project Experience

Applicants must submit details of three recent projects (<10 years ago) aligned with the following:

• Experience with South African National Roads Authority, Concessionaire, or Provincial Authority (specify for each project)
• Experience in “Development” or “Improvement” (Road upgrades) and/or “Development of New Facilities” (New Road Infrastructure projects). Structural experience is beneficial.

Additional Responsibilities and Skills

• Assist with technical input to progress reports
• Review and monitor testing equipment, identify deficiencies early
• Ensure site work, laboratory tests, and designs meet specifications, codes, and standards, including HSE regulations
• Maintain accurate records
• Manage acceptance control operations
• Ensure safety, security, and environmental measures are followed
• Support the Engineer’s Representative and Client to deliver projects on time, within scope, and with quality
• Apply Site Management System based on ISO 9001 QMS
